Mark C. Brickell Joins BLACKBIRD as CEO and Director

"For 15 years, the negotiation and trading of swaps has unfolded within a framework that Mark Brickell helped to conceive and develop throughout his distinguished career," said Matthew A. (Andy) Baxter, chairman and former Blackbird CEO. "As chief executive of Blackbird, Mark will continue to shape the future of the derivatives industry. We are honored that Mark has joined our organization."

Widely regarded as an influential leader in the derivatives industry, Mr. Brickell joins Blackbird after 25 years at J.P. Morgan, most recently as a managing director. Mr. Brickell helped Morgan to build one of the world's foremost derivatives businesses. He worked on the trading desk and later, as the business grew, brought the views of a derivatives trader and dealmaker to the table when issues arose with state, federal and international regulators and lawmakers. Throughout the course of his career, he has maintained a dual focus: supporting the growth and advancement of the derivatives industry while helping to shape a more favorable public policy environment.

From 1988 to 1992, Brickell also served as chairman of the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). A principal author of the influential Group of Thirty study, Derivatives: Practices and Principles, Brickell holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A. from the University of Chicago.

"Blackbird's technology has established a benchmark for electronic trading in interest rate derivatives," explained Shawn Dorsch, president and co-founder of Blackbird Holdings. "With Mark's vision and prominent industry leadership, Blackbird is well positioned to play a leading role in the industry's future."
